A few months ago…
a friend shared a post regarding the numbers of people who were living down at the Rosebud foreshore, due to a rental shortage on the Mornington Peninsula. The knowledge that so many would be facing the oncoming winter in a tent was terrible to say the least.
Almost daily, I see posts on Facebook with people desperately seeking shelter. And just last month, a friend asked for positive thoughts for he and his family; they were struggling to find a new home to rent.
So I asked myself…
“How can I help. What difference can I make”. It was then that I remembered that I friend of mine sources donations for a local organisation called Donation Chain Inc. They organise toiletries, scarves, beanies, new underwear etc for people on the Mornington Peninsula who are finding themselves struggling with homelessness or to just make ends to meet.
Term 2’s Mindfulness & Meditation Programs for Toddlers, Kids and Teens were about to begin. So I decided to encourage all those gorgeous kidletts and their parents, to join me in making a difference in our local community. I put the call out for donations, and boy, I was NOT disappointed. Those amazing kids and their parents inundated me with so many donations that I have already had to drop 4 shopping bag’s worth off.
So thank you for all the awesome donations we have already received and please, please keep them coming. Our local area is facing a rental crisis and there are so many people doing it tough. If you wish to help you can donate directly to https://www.facebook.com/donationchaininc/
